General information

The Workshop on "Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of Multiscale Nonlinear Systems" in cooperation with Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) Activity Group on Geosciences will be held at Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon, June 25-29, 2007.
The workshop will bring together an interdisciplinary group of scientists working on various aspects of nonlinear coupled phenomena occuring at multiple spatial and temporal scales in natural and man-made environments.
The Program includes general overview talks on methods and applications as well as special topics. The topics include

modeling of preferential fluid flow and transport and other phenomena in subsurface
experiment-based and computational porescale-to-watershed modeling
analysis of multiscale nonlinear PDEs systems as well as stochastic approaches
adaptive multiscale computational techniques and their implementations
biological and engineering applications with multiscale character
The Workshop is sponsored by the United States Department of Energy Office of Science Multiscale Mathematics Initiative project 98089 " Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of Multiscale Preferential Flow" and by National Science Foundation, award number 0707562.

Attendees are encouraged to consider participating in a 2007 DOE Summer School in Multiscale Mathematics and High Performance Computing organized by Northwest Consortium for Multiscale Mathematics and Applications which will be held immediately after the workshop at Oregon State University, June 29-July 3, 2007.
Registration is required.
