Applied mathematics serves to bridge mathematics with the community of users in sciences, business, and engineering. Contemporary applied problems often require a combination of numerical, stochastic, and analytic tools. Applications of interest to our research group at OSU range from the cash flows of financial engineering, insurance, and natural resource economics to fluid flows in river networks, ocean/atmospheric systems, and groundwater, to data flows in telecommunication networks.
