REU 2007 Participants

This is the home page for the 2008 Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program in Mathematics at Oregon State University . This is the 22nd year that OSU has offered a REU Program in Mathematics!!

Dennis J. Garity is directing the program this year. This program will support 10 undergraduate students and will run for eight weeks during the summer of 2008. This page contains links to a more detailed description of the program, descriptions of potential projects, and instructions on applying either on line or via a printed application.

Why consider Oregon State University? Three good reasons are the beautiful location, the helpful faculty and the range of projects available. Here are some comments by students who were in the program during the past few years.

You learn a lot about a wide variety of topics, as well as learning a specific area very deeply. Also, Oregon is a beautiful state to enjoy on those moments when you are away from the mathematics that you work on throughout the week."

Kathleen Meloney: "The Oregon State REU Program was a great learning experience for me. This program helped me get a better understanding for what is involved in mathematical research and how to tackle large problems by breaking them into smaller pieces. Corvallis, although a small town, has a whole lot to offer during the summer. It was obvious during the summer that Oregonians enthusiastically celebrate the few months of dry weather they get!! The summer weather here is truly amazing--and this is coming from a native Floridian!! With the interesting city of Eugene, Portland, and the coast all within driving distance, it really is a great place a spend the summer."
